Promoted as the most dangerous and daring off- road race ever to be attempted, the first Trans- Amazon road rally lives up to its billing and beyond! Starting in Cartegena, Columbia, the grueling course winds its way south for 9,000 miles through South America's most treacherous jungles and searing deserts-and goes from seal-level to 15,000 feet above sea level. The eighty drivers who begin the race must face brutal roads, intense fluctuations in temperature and sheer exhaustion without the aid of accurate road books or maps. By the end of the first Trans-Amazon, several of the drivers have died, and only thirteen of the entrants can boast of successfully completing this unbelievable course.
