.900 Fine: The Story of the Carson City Silver DollarIn late 1971 the U.S. Government moved 2.9 million Carson City silver dollars from the Treasury Department in Washington D.C. to the West Point, NY Bullion Depository. There these uncirculated coins would be sorted and packaged for public sale by the U.S. General Services Administration. The coins were minted between 1870 & 1893 from 90 percent (.900 fine) silver. This is the story of the famed Carson City silver dollar and its unique place in American history.
