Japan entered the war with well prepared forces as well as plans, and in the beginning she swept all before her. The U.S. Pacific fleet was crippled in Pearl Harbor, and then Japan's land and naval forces, ably backed from the air, swept into the Philippines, Malaysia, the Dutch-East Indies and Burma.
