Fela in Concert

Recorded live in Paris in June 1981, during an all-night concert, this extraordinary program features the music of the famous Nigerian musician and composer Fela Anikulapo Kuti and The Africa 70. Fela is the most celebrated black musician today and a revolutionary, cultural and political symbol, often misunderstood by the Western mind. A charismatic performer, Fela projects the imperial trappings of power. He has assembled over 20 musicians and six singers in a performance that is punctuated by the exotic and highly suggestive tribal dances and rituals performed on stage by his 15 wives. Fela has recorded more than 50 albums.
