How to Start a Rock Collection

Filmed as a semi-documentary, the video follows a scientist as he takes a youngster on a rock and mineral hunt in such common places as a crushed rock walkway, pond shoreline, city construction site and roadside cliff. The student is shown how to use a pick hammer, goggles, a magnifying glass and other rock-collecting tools. After the field trip, the geologist and child study the rocks, the specimens are then numbered, identified and properly recorded.
