Paul Hawken on Henderson Industries

Henderson Industries, a 32 year-old New Jersey based designer of computer and control systems, is one of the most successful minority-owned companies in the nation. In 1986 Henderson recognized that its traditional business had become increasingly competitive and carried considerable technological and financial risks. Henderson's creative energies led him to reorganize his company into two units; one commercial, and the other focusing on government contracts. Two years after reorganization their sales had doubled.
