When the Fire Whistle Blows

Learn about men and women who are volunteer firefighters. The producer of the program joined his local volunteer fire company. The first year he responded to calls and trained like every new member. For the second year, he videotaped every call he could make. At the end of the second year, four firefighters were interviewed in depth about being volunteers. They say why they really do it, explain how much of their life it consumes, and describe why the risks are worth it.
