C Jon Draw... U Can 2!

Students today have grown up in an entirely different world of art than that of their teachers. Children toady want to draw more than a tree, snowman, fruit and what they see looking out the window. They have a vested interest in the "very collectible" art form known as comic book art. This artist of the 90's shows the viewer how to draw a comic book character. He discusses various ways to draw, for example, the way a tuft of hair sticks out of the character's baseball hat, how to draw comic book character hands and fingers. A teacher could use this as her art lesson and for subsequent sessions, have the students draw the character again and add background, dialogue, etc. like they see in the comics. Grades 2-4.
