Mining for Gold

Kristen Birchfield is your guide for a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the famous Barrick Goldstrike Mine in Nevada, the third largest gold mine in the world! Kristen is joined by her younger brother and sister as she gives simple on-site explanations of the modern technology used to process microscopic gold into 60 pound gold bars. Join Kristen, Adam and Beth as they ride on giant trucks and help operate six story tall shovels. Watch the daily blasts down in the pit and learn about ore samples, geologists, rock crushers and grinders. Kids of all ages will marvel at the high security gold room where Kristen pours the gold.
