Battle of Salamis

In 485 BC the Persians were the most powerful empire in the world. Their new leader, Xerxes, invaded Greece, determined to add to his expanding empire. But at the battle of Salamis, a small Athenian fleet dramatically defeated the mighty Persians and the advance was stemmed. The story is told through the words and images of Herodotus, the father of history. Athens was saved and the Classical Golden Age of Greece began.
