Feather River Canyon

Located approximately 75 miles north of Donner Pass, Union Pacific's Feather River Line crosses through the Sierra Nevada utilizing the rugged Feather River Canyon. The entire line is examined showing all sites of the canyon. You'll witness trains being escorted through by hi-rail vehicles during a strong spring storm when mud slides threatened the route. You'll visit the Keddie Wye where the mainline splits atop a tall steel trestle and Williams Loop where the tracks cross over themselves to maintain the line's 1% grade. View an assortment of Union Pacific trains that include high priority container trains, manifest, grain trains and the unique power movement, where each week surplus locomotives in California are sent east.
