Target Japan

"Leapfrog" details the strategic air offensive to cut off Japanese strongholds from the Marshall Islands to the jungles of New Guinea and establish air bases within striking distance of Japan itself. "Mission To Wewak" shows the US turning the tables and attacking central New Guinea, destroying 250 Japanese fighter planes. We then graphically follow American forces through the savage air battles at "Iwo Jima" and "Okinawa", where the Imperial Air Force hurled kamikaze suicide fighters at our men for three months. After this act of desperation failed, we show the final blows of the war as atomic bombs are dropped on "Hiroshima" and "Nagasaki". Included is rare color footage of these conclusive bombings.
