Nazca Lines: Pathway to the Gods
In a dark hotel room in Peru, far from her homeland, a very old woman lies dying. She is 91 years old, blind and paralyzed, yet people still come from all corners of the world to hear Maria Reiche talk about her life's work, a quest for an ancient religion under the spell of the starts and the unraveling of one of the greatest mysteries on earth; the enigma of the Nazca lines. Over a surface of 5000 square miles, the south of Peruvian desert is covered with huge drawings and lines. They were made to be seen only from the sky as little or nothing can be seen on the desert surface itself. British writer Tony Morrison pays homage to his old friend Maria Reiche, whom he was the first to record on film in the early sixties. Morrison enters a world of Indian witch doctors, "curadores" and "brujos", a totally different concept of reality from ours, to try to discover what moved the minds of those who once created the Nazca lines.
