Castle of the Holy GrailMontsegur, an ancient place of power in the French Pyrenees, is said to be the castle of the Holy Grail. No other tale has had such enduring influence throughout the ages than the enigmatic Grail legend which has kept scientists puzzled to this day. The Grail's origin is unknown. In some tales, it is thought to be the cup from the Last Supper, and in others, the cup used by Joseph of Arimathea to collect the blood of the crucified Christ. French author Christian Bernadac follows modern day Grail-seekers, from Wewelsburg, Himmler's "castle of the Round Table" to Montsegur, where seekers of the Grail come in increasing numbers. Few search for a material treasure, a "cup". Most consider the Grail as the epitome of spirituality, symbolized by the extraordinary moment on December 21 and June 21, when the sun's rays suddenly set the interiors of Montsegur and the nearby Bethlehem cave mysteriously aglow.
